'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith resumes contest with City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he recalls the thrilling dying seconds of his team's epic comeback win against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. That match ended with Galbraith picking up a supporter's spectacles after the pitch-side pile-on.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith struck the post with a long-range strike from outside the box, and the defender quickly slammed home the deflection before sprinting toward the crowd to mark the goal, with the crowd swarming the players.

Remarkable Recovery

This completed an extraordinary comeback given the team had been behind 2-0 during the latter period. Amid the delirium, there was some collateral damage. Galbraith explained, "There was a fan shouting out and Josh Key and I were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're people, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The victory booked a fourth-round game at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a team Galbraith came close against at the same stage of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. He had an excellent perspective when Orient took the lead in spectacular fashion, with the attacker's volley from about 45 yards going in via the bar and the Stefan Ortega. Many argued that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've given it to him for taking the effort on from that range," says Galbraith, who started in midfield before shifting to right wing-back after Orient changed tactics. That meant getting to grips with City's winger, with whom he swapped shirts, and the attacker was among the City players who praised the way Orient approached the match.

Guardiola's System

"Athletically they are outstanding but even the fundamentals and routine actions, they can just execute repeatedly," the midfielder notes. "It seems as if they never miss a pass and they understand how to control and neutralize a game. You can feel you're holding your own and then without warning they will just deliver a through ball between defenders without you even spotting it. You have to be switched on throughout of the game. It demands a resilient mindset and concentration just to stay in the game."

Swansea Move

The club pushed to sign Galbraith in January and beat off competition to secure him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He established himself as a popular figure across a couple of years at Orient and has swiftly replicated that in Wales. At his previous team he joined forces once more with his former manager, who earlier gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in senior football on loan at a League One side from Old Trafford. Then came a temporary move at lower division Salford, before he permanently left Old Trafford.

Growth Journey

"I was probably a slightly green going into men's football. I think numerous professionals would say development squad matches is entirely separate. Sometimes it appears possession is exchanged without real physicality. There's not many hard challenges. Once you start playing men's games you have to learn quickly."

National Team Success

He has shown that maturation for his team and nation, performing well for Northern Ireland, who are fighting to qualify for the global tournament next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has featured in the recent fixtures, including both legs games against Germany. His former international manager, Galbraith's former international manager, paid him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he controls possession and his knack for a game-changing assist.

Early Days

This represents an incredible journey for the kid from the neighborhood in the Belfast suburb, just outside Belfast, who used to see his father, the elder Galbraith, also a engine room operator, play for his father's team.

Old Trafford Memory

His sole appearance for Manchester United came in the away trip in 2019, a European competition trip to the host city, where they played on an plastic turf and the stadium roof was sealed owing to conditions of -15C. "That proved to be a extended travel and it was freezing," he comments, chuckling. "The preceding week, the academy prospects worked out jointly, so that assisted our preparation. Just to join the main group and earn some playing time at the end was unbelievable."

Leaving United

How difficult was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he transferred from aged 16? "This turned out fairly simple, because I arrived at the moment where I understood I wouldn't break through at the senior squad. I'm extremely thankful for the experience gained but it reached a stage where I felt I required a fresh start, move to a lower level and play men's football. Now I'm gradually progressing again."

Welsh Adaptation

It is the early part of the afternoon at the club's training ground but Galbraith has a commitment at late afternoon: a road rules assessment, another progress toward getting on the road. Before his recent move to the local area, the young professional was a regular in Swansea's so-called fun bus, a small coach driven by academy staff, Pete and Howard, which ferries players to and from practice and games.

"It's myself the Portuguese player, another squad member, Malick Yalcouyé – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's pleasant to interact with the lads but I'm hoping to be the subsequent individual to drive independently and driving. The Portuguese player likes to pull a few pranks; he's constantly causing mischief."

Fan Interactions

During his time at Leyton Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside supporters on the Tube after commuting at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
